Designer QR Codes help celebrity icon reach more people
Many feared the worst after Mary Tyler Moore star Ed Asner was hospitalized on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, but the spirited 83-year-old has made it clear he is feeling better and back on track. In fact, this coming July, Mr. Asner will be hosting the First Annual Ed Asner and Friends Poker Tournament in Santa Monica, California to support a cause very dear to him - Autism Awareness.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Los Angeles chapter of Autism Speaks, a national non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about children with Autism. PRINT2D is honored to play an important role in bringing this event to the attention of prospective attendees via handheld devices.
PRINT2D created a designer QR Code and a mobile Website that enables Autism Speaks to print the code on special advertising pieces to promote the upcoming event. The designer QR Code will also be featured on traditional multi-media Websites, such as Facebook. In conjunction with the mobile initiative, PRINT2D's parent company, Warbasse Design created the traditional Website enabling Autism Speaks to reach the largest possible audience and expand their marketing efforts no matter what device a user is on.
"PRINT2D is honored to be a part of this great event. We look forward to working on behalf of Autism Speaks to help bring recognition and resources to such an important cause," said Philip Warbasse, CEO - PRINT2D.
The designer QR Code was created using brand attributes and a lively blend of colors associated with Autism Speaks' national branding. The QR Code also incorporates Autism Speaks logo - a puzzle piece placed directly in the middle.
The mobile Website delivers a video message from Ed Asner himself along with the ability to register for the event, view an event schedule, get directions via Google maps and interact on Facebook to help spread the word.
You don't have to be a star
The underlying point that Warbasse and all the designers at PRINT2D wish to make is that you don't need to be a Hollywood icon to work with PRINT2D. "We work with businesses and organizations of all sizes - everyday. We wish Ed and Autism Speaks the very best with the tournament and look forward to the opportunity to work on behalf of other special causes," concluded Warbasse.
